This year i am participating in an equine project 52 contest. Every week me and other equine photographers have a certain word or phrase, and go out and take pictures that have this theme in mind. The best part, it’s horse related. It’s an opportunity to push myself and think of new things. I started a little late, but i’m loving it already! Here is what I got for week 5 – water. Ranch Engagements | Matt + Hayley
These ranch engagements were almost a year ago! So crazy how time flies! This was my first session after McCoy joined our family! We had planned on doing this session about a month earlier, but McCoy decided to join our family 3 weeks early (the day before we were scheduled to do pictures!). I think it ended up working out perfect. It gave things a little more time to get green and full of life after a long winter! APHA World Champion | Wilson
Meet Mr. Verifiable, or “Wilson” as his family calls him. What. A. Ham. This guy loved the camera. He was so fun to take pictures of! Full of personality and not afraid to show off. This pretty guy is a big sorrel paint. He has the shiniest pretty coat. Wilson (and his owner, Andi), is a APHA world champion in performance halter geldings and western riding. One funny thing about Wilson is that he loves Slurpees! But he only gets them if he wins. APHA World Champion | Wilson You can see more black background sessions here!
A boy and his horse | Luke
A boy and his horse. Doesn’t get much better than that! When Luke’s mom was pregnant we did maternity pictures with both these horses in this session! I’s so fun to look at those pictures (you can see those here) and then take pictures of Luke with the same horses! These pictures were taken as a surprise for Luke’s mom’s birthday! Grandma and dad coordinated it all, and it was such a fun session! I couldn’t wait for Kelsey to see these pictures on her birthday, and had a pretty hard time keeping them quiet because they turned out SO cute! A boy and his horse | Luke
Black Background Session | Luka
I believe that every horse should have it’s own black background session! It is such a classic way to show off your horse. All focus is on them. It’s a technique that I have been trying to perfect for awhile now. I had a day of back to back mini-black background sessions planned with six different horses. Such a fun day! All six horses were so different, and equally amazing! I’m going to highlight each one separately! Luka is a big Belgian/Brabant stud horse. A gorgeous blue roan. He was imported from Belgium – can you imagine this big guy on an airplane?! You won’t see very many of these… Keep Reading
