I had the opportunity to be the official show photographer for the IHSA Semi Finals hosted by Utah State University! Having showned IHSA in college, I was SO excited to be a part of this amazing event! History of the IHSA The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association was established in 1967 by Robert Cacchione. He was an 18-year-old sophomore attending Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. Cacchione developed the prototype competition program with the help of his professor and renowned horseman Jack Fritz. Launched with just two colleges competing in hunter seat equitation, the IHSA was praised for its innovative competition format and quickly caught on. In 1979 the Western… Keep Reading
Graduation Pictures – Karsyn
Karsyn is one of the kindest, sweetest, most hard working girls that I have met! I was so excited to get to take her graduation pictures! Karsyn graduated with a Law and Constitutional Studies and History degree from Utah State University last spring! We headed out to Antelope Island (which happens to be about 5 min. from her parents house!) to take her graduation pictures. It was a windy day (which kept the bugs away!!) and we had the most gorgeous light. It had rained all morning, so we had fun cloud cover which brought out all the amazing colors at lady finger point. Congrats Karsyn, you are amazing!! Karsyn Graduation… Keep Reading
What’s in my bag
What’s in my bag? This is such a big topic! When I first got into photography I was overwhelmed with the amount of options there are! As I learned more and more and nailed down my specialty I found gear that would give me the results that I wanted. I’ve gone through a lot of different gear, and have found a nice line-up that works for me! When I first started photography I would see other’s pictures and have to know how they got that type of shot. I’ve learned that a lot of photography is about light, but it is also about knowing your gear! You don’t have to… Keep Reading
Cowboy Christmas – NFR
Who is at the NFR this week? If you are, I am so jealous! It’s been 5 years since I was last there and I miss it so much every year. One of my all time favorite things about the NFR is Vegas is Cowboy Christmas! What a fun event! You can find anything horse-western-cowboy related. And so many unique and fun things. One of my favorites, and one you don’t want to pass by, is Desert Sage Bead Art. Kathleen is sure to give you only the best quality. She hand makes everything she sells. Seriously SO talented. I’ve had the opportunity to photography many of her headstalls, cuffs,… Keep Reading
Richmond Family Pictures | The Petersens
Richmond family pictures. I found my new favorite spot in Richmond, UT. It takes a little bit of walking, but once you get to the spot it’s magical! The grass is so tall, and in the fall turns to a golden color. My favorite part about this location is the trees. They are thick, gorgeous, and change to brilliant colors in the fall! I was so happy to have this spot for the Petersens. They are an amazing family that needed an amazing location! Rachel used to model for RubyClaire Boutique, so we have had a lot of time together at photo-shoots. They live just down the street from me… Keep Reading
