I had waaaaay too much fun during this session! Being able to take pictures of such talented horses and riders is such a fun experience. Jason, of Romney Performance Horses, is such a good sport and lets me try out crazy ideas during his sessions! I love performance horse pictures, but you see a lot of the same thing over and over (nothing wrong with that at all, there are a lot of gorgeous pictures out there!). I wanted to try a new perspective, so my husband lifted me up in a boom truck so i could get pictures from above. While Jason warmed up I took pictures. Then when he was ready, we went high up above! If you know me, you know that I do not like heights. At all. My husband kindly sat in the lift with me the entire time, mostly because if I was up there alone I was convinced I would be stuck up there forever.
Jason rode his two talented horses, Russel and Myrtle. Both horses were shown last year at the Snaffle Bit Futurity for the National Reined Cow Horse Association. During this shoot Jason worked cows for one of the equine classes at Utah State University. Russel was born at Utah State University, so it was really neat for the students to see what the colts they are working with for class could go on to do one day!
