The Richmond Black and White Days horse pulls are one of our favorite things to go and watch! It’s so fun to see the strength and team work of these horses!
Richmond Black and White Days started over 100 years ago just as a dairy cow show.
“The very first Holstein show in Richmond was held in 1912. Local dairymen drove their best Holsteins into the old LDS tithing yard. Judges rode through the herds and picked out the best cattle.”
The show has been held every year since except for a two year break in 1913-1914 due to hoof-and-mouth disease when almost all livestock shows and auctions where closed to help prevent the spread of the disease. Now in addition to the cattle show, there is the annual horse show, carnival rides, food vendors, a parade, and of course, the horse pulls.
