I have been so blessed to own some special horses in my life. It makes me so sad that I don’t have hardly any pictures of some of these horses! Every horse we get now I make sure to do nice portraits of, and I absolutely love it. They all go on our “horse wall” so we can have them to look at forever! I’ve noticed that this is a trend in the horse world. We LOVE our horses, but don’t have great high quality pictures of them. That is the reason I am offering this mini session day! So that you can have special pictures of the horses you love in your life! These mini session can include just your horse, you and your horse, or multiple horses. They are personalized to you, but remember they are mini sessions and we have limited time! Make sure to read all of the Black Background FAQ’s listed below!
How do I sign up?
All time slots can be purchased here: laurenandersonphoto.com/product/black-background
Should I give my horse a bath?
Yes! Horses are dirty (naturally). They will really pop and shine on the black background after a bath! Just make sure you bathe the day before or give plenty of time for your horse to dry.
Can I be in the picture with my horse?
Absolutely! Just let me know beforehand so I can plan and get you in for part of the session!
Is 10-15 minutes enough time?
Yes! These minis sessions are designed so you get 3-5 images of your horse. I work quick, and have an assistant with me that knows what poses I want and will get the horse looking where I want.
What type of images can I expect?
I always get a full body, a head shot, and a creative shot. You are guaranteed 3-5 images, but will get more if I get more!
Can I use these images to sell my horse?
Yes! These pictures are yours to do what you want with them! I highly recommend getting high quality images of your horse before you list for sale, and these fit in perfect! They catch peoples eye and draw them in!
Can I bring more than one horse?
Yes! If you have multiple horses and want each to have its own “session” you will need to reserve multiple spots. Ex. You have 3 horses, and want single portraits of each plus a group picture. You would need to reserve 3 spots. If you only want a group shot with all 3 horses at once, then only one time slot is needed. Feel free to ask if you have any questions!
What kind of tack should I put on my horse?
See my post on what to wear to a photo session – for your horse!
See post here
Will my black horse show up on a black background?
Yes! Your horse will be in different lighting than the black background, and will show up very nice!
What if my horse doesn’t behave?
You guys. Of all the horses I’ve taken pictures of, I’ve never had one behave perfectly. They are horses. We bring them to new locations and ask them to stand with their ears forward for a girl with a camera. It’s kinda a lot to ask from them. Horses get bored with me. I have all sorts of tricks to keep their attention. Don’t let it worry you if your horse isn’t being perfect!! If they move, we put them back. If they aren’t looking in the right direction, I move. I only need their attention for a split second to get the picture taken. Every horse is different, and I love the challenge!
I can’t make it on the scheduled black background mini session day. Can I book you a different time?
Yes! My full sessions are unique and can be booked at anytime. They are longer sessions, and can include black background images of your horse as well as outdoor, riding, etc. All I need to do a black background image is a barn isle with a large overhead door.
When will I get my pictures back?
Black background images take a little more personalized editing time. You can expect to get your gallery 2 weeks after the shoot!
